Nonna, the origin of everything
Every Sunday, family and friends would gather at Rosa Donna Rummo’s home to enjoy a feast of pizza and fresh pasta. Rosa Donna Rummo used only the freshest local ingredients, which she collected herself in her brand new red Fiat 500, which is why the locals nicknamed her ‘Pummarola’ (tomato in Neapolitan dialect).
Her family encouraged her to start a business because of her culinary skills.
Birth of Pizzeria Pummarola
In 1945, he opened a small pizzeria in Naples. He called it Pummarola, as everyone already knew him. It quickly became a success. For more than two decades, customers from all over Italy frequented this small pizzeria. After many years of satisfying customers, Rosa Donna Rummo passed away and with her the name Pummarola. Sadly, none of her children continued the business.
How this Neapolitan pizzeria arrived in Barcelona
However, 50 years later, moved by the memory of their grandmother and her pizzeria, her four grandchildren decided to restore Pummarola's legacy. First Several pizzerias opened in Florida.
